Retina Institute of North Georgia is a new physician-led retina practice opening in Sugar Hill, GA. We are seeking an ophthalmic technician to join as one of the first team members and help build an efficient, patient-centered retina clinic from the ground up.
This is a hands-on role in a small specialty practice. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, warm with patients, and comfortable helping with both clinical flow and light front desk coverage during the startup phase. This position offers the opportunity to grow into a lead clinical role as the practice scales.
Duties
- Perform patient workups, including chief complaint, medical and ocular history, visual acuity, IOP, pupils, and dilation.
- Operate ophthalmic imaging equipment, including OCT and fundus photography.
- Assist with retina clinic flow, including intravitreal injection visits, room turnover, patient preparation, and procedure support.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record; ModMed experience is a plus.
- Help maintain clean, organized exam rooms and clinical work areas.
- Support check-in, scheduling, phone calls, and other front desk tasks as needed during the early startup phase.
- Help develop efficient clinic workflows, patient handoffs, supply organization, and day-to-day practice systems.
Experience
- Prior ophthalmology or optometry experience preferred.
- Retina experience is a strong plus but not required for the right candidate.
- Experience with OCT, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, or injection clinic flow is highly valued.
- COA/COT certification is a plus but not required.
- Strong patient service skills, attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work well in a growing practice.
- Comfort with EHR documentation and basic computer skills required.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: $23–$26/hour depending on experience.
Benefits include paid holidays, PTO, scrub allowance, and support for ophthalmic certification.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help shape a new retina practice and grow into a lead clinical role as patient volume increases.
