American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) position requiring dedicated open-heart unit experience and proficiency with ECMO, IABP, and post-op cardiac surgery recovery.

18-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU) in a large academic hospital setting (500+ bed facility)
-
Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, lung transplant, ventricular assist device (VAD) placements, and other complex cardiothoracic procedures

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2

Rotating day/night shift schedule (7A/7P), 12-hour shifts

Epic EMR experience preferred

Active MD or Compact RN license required

BLS required; ACLS preferred

Critical Care Certification preferred

Experience in a dedicated open-heart unit receiving patients directly from the OR required

Current ICU experience with recovery of post-op cardiac surgery patients required

Proficiency with ventilator management, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive drip titration, Level 1 IABP, and ECMO required

Experience at a 500+ bed facility required

One professional reference required for consideration

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Provides critical care nursing to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries, including transplants and VAD placements

Orientation is scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
-
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
