Job Summary
A&S Refuse LLC looking for a safety-conscious CDL Class A Driver for local hauling work throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
This position is primarily focused on transfer trailer and walking floor work, including hauling construction debris and related materials to landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, and other approved disposal sites. Drivers may also assist with roll-off operations and other job-site hauling needs when necessary.
Our tractor and roll-off trucks are automatic Peterbilts. This is a local position with drivers home daily and no over-the-road travel.
The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, comfortable working in construction and waste-hauling environments, and committed to operating safely. We are looking for drivers who take pride in their equipment, communicate well with dispatch, and represent the company professionally with customers, contractors, and disposal facilities.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer on local hauling routes
- Operate walking floor and transfer trailer equipment
- Haul construction debris and related materials to approved disposal facilities
- Make runs to landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, and customer job sites
- Assist with roll-off hauling and job-site support when needed
- Perform thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Inspect the truck and trailer for safety, mechanical, or maintenance concerns
- Promptly report equipment damage, defects, or maintenance needs
- Follow all DOT, FMCSA, company, landfill, and job-site safety requirements
- Maintain accurate scale tickets, disposal tickets, route sheets, logs, and other required paperwork
- Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, route changes, customer requests, site conditions, and equipment concerns
- Safely maneuver through construction sites, disposal facilities, customer properties, and confined areas
- Keep assigned equipment clean, safe, and in good operating condition
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers, contractors, vendors, and disposal facility personnel
Minimum Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license
- Acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements
- Ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer in local traffic, construction sites, landfills, transfer stations, and confined areas
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and consistently
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills with dispatch, customers, and coworkers
- Willingness to follow company safety policies and operating procedures
- Ability to pass required DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to meet applicable background and employment requirements
Preferred Experience
- Two or more years of CDL Class A driving experience
- Walking floor or transfer trailer experience
- Waste hauling or construction debris hauling
- Dump trailer experience
- Roll-off truck experience
- Landfill or transfer station experience
- Familiarity with Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and surrounding Maryland routes
Walking floor, transfer trailer, and roll-off experience are preferred but are not required for every qualified applicant.
