Job Title: CNC Machinist
Pay Rate: $21/h to $23/h
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Description:
The Tool & Prototype Maker is responsible for preventive maintenance, repair of support equipment, training, and overseeing overall shop functions. This role supports the fabrication of engineered prototype parts, precision tools, jigs, molds, dies, special guides, and holding devices used throughout the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate will possess strong CNC programming and machining experience, blueprint interpretation skills, and hands-on expertise working with metals, alloys, plastics, and ceramics. This position requires a proactive individual capable of supporting prototype development and tooling operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily Tool & Prototype Making operations while adhering to company procedures and safety standards.
- Utilize sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan fabrication processes for dies, tools, and assemblies.
- Verify dimensions of finished parts using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
- Assemble, repair, and modify tools, dies, gauges, and jigs using hand and machine tools.
- Design and create templates and jigs to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Diagnose tooling issues and perform repairs on manually operated and progressive dies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to resolve production and tooling concerns.
- File, fit, and finish workpieces to ensure proper functionality and quality.
- Select appropriate materials and metals based on project specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Support preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, training activities, and overall shop operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Preferred 2-year vocational training in a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of practical Tool Room, Tool & Die, Prototype, or Precision Manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines using CAM software and/or G-Code.

- Amada Coma Turret Punch Press
- Amada Brake Press
- Hurco Machine Center
- Mitsubishi Wire EDM
- Strong understanding of tooling adjustments, speeds, and feeds.
- Experience using CAD software to create detailed models, patterns, templates, and component drawings.
- Ability to program and operate CNC mills, CNC EDMs, CNC lathes, and standard tool room equipment.
- CAD/CAM experience preferred, particularly with SolidWorks and Mastercam.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tool drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of precision inspection techniques and measurement equipment.
- In-depth understanding of materials used in tooling, prototype, and mold fabrication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in prototype development and precision manufacturing environments.
- Advanced CAD/CAM design and programming experience.
- Experience supporting tooling, fixture building, mold making, and custom fabrication projects.
- Strong knowledge of machining, heat treating, welding, polishing, and wear-resistant materials.
