Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our inclusive classroom team for a 10-month contract period. This role is designed to support 4th and 5th-grade students, including those with diverse learning needs and disabilities. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating instructional modifications for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
- Utilize educational technology tools to enhance instruction and facilitate differentiated learning experiences.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies tailored for students with developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders.
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to support student development and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing when appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, and strategies for at-home support through parent-teacher conferences and written reports.
- Maintain detailed records of student performance, behavior incidents, IEP goals, and instructional modifications in compliance with special education law.
Qualifications
- Degree in Elementary Education or a related field; preferred teaching certification required.
- Proven classroom experience working with elementary school students in an inclusive setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in special education practices, including curriculum development for students with disabilities and behavioral health needs.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, specialists, parents, and caregivers.
- Familiarity with IEP processes, special education law, instructional modifications, behavior management techniques, and behavioral therapy strategies.
- Ability to integrate educational technology into daily lessons to support diverse learners.
