Wilson Manufacturing is a Family-owned business that has been headquartered right here in St. Louis since 1979, located at 4725 Green Park Road, St Louis, MO 63123 in the heart of South County. Selling quality rotary cutting tools across the globe with our 180+ person team from our 3 facilities. Our work can be seen in grocery stores, pharmacies, hospitals, appliance stores and car dealerships. Our products are used to print and die cut labels, bandages, gaskets, seals, and packages that you use every day.
Wilson Manufacturing is looking for a skilled Machinist to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. Must have manual machinist capabilities running Manual Mills and Manual Lathes. You will produce, modify or repair precision parts using manual machines and accurate measurements. A great machinist needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures. This job is for 2nd shift, hours are 3:00pm - 11:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Take measurements and mark material for cutting
- Select appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and position or load material for a job
- Determine proper speeds and feeds of machine etc.
- Perform routine daily machine maintenance and general housekeeping
Skills
- Proven experience as machinist
- Demonstrate ability to setup and operate mills, lathes, drill presses and additional machine shop equipment to produce parts using engineering drawings.
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to take accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Good at math with analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items (no more than 50 pounds)
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
- Be organized/maintain clean work area
- Must have basic machining tools
- Be able to fabricate parts/tools necessary for shop (including one off parts)
- Follow instructions/ be attentive
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong work ethic
- Great attendance record
- A Team player
