Duties
- Deliver comprehensive patient care by performing physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and health assessments using physiology knowledge and medical terminology.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and catheterizations, following strict protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as specimen collection, processing, and basic medical imaging procedures.
- Manage airway and ventilator support, perform tube feeding, and provide wound care including suturing and aseptic techniques.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Conduct triage assessments for urgent care or emergency room situations, prioritizing patient needs effectively.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management activities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in settings like hospice care or post-acute environments.
Experience
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse license with current state certification required.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as medical-surgical units, ICU or Level I Trauma Centers preferred.
- Critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine is highly desirable; familiarity with Level II trauma center protocols is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical terminology essential for precise recordkeeping and billing processes.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities enhances your ability to deliver personalized care in community or home settings.
- Skills in infection control practices, pain management strategies—including acute pain management—and dementia or Alzheimer’s care are highly valued.
