Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club is seeking an experienced and service-driven Banquet Operations Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing all banquet and special event operations, ensuring exceptional member and guest experiences through seamless execution, attention to detail, and outstanding hospitality. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for events, teamwork, and elevated service standards.Responsible for the set-up and execution of private parties and Club Functions.
Position Description Summary:
The Events Operations Manager leads the Banquet Captains in the day to day Banquet operations to include: Food & Beverage, scheduling, service, and breakdown. Directs the Banquet Captains in the planning and execution of all Banquet functions. Greets and seats guests at banquet functions. Maintains order and cleanliness of all Club facilities daily. Assures that member/guests satisfaction standards are consistently attained. Directs the training of new employees, and the continuing training of current staff. Directs Banquet Captains and all banquet staff to maintain banquet equipment, facilities, and inventories.
Responsibilities, Essential Functions, Relationships and Operational Expectation
- Oversee coordination of food service between Kitchen and Service Staff.
- Direct Banquet Captains in staffing coordination and set up/breakdown.
- Inspects all Banquet areas for cleanliness.
- Handles member/guest complaints and problems by following club policies and informing the proper authority.
- Helps control that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
- Ensures that proper OSHA safety trainings have been completed by their staff and coordinating with other department heads.
- Maintains Banquet equipment inventory and ensures responsible handling of all club equipment.
- Directs the Banquet Captains in decorating plans for all club functions.
- Direct the continual training of all Banquet staff.
- Direct Banquet Captains in the supervision of the Banquet staff.
- Inspects rooms and food pick-up areas for sanitation and safety issues.
- Directs Banquet service of Food & Beverage.
- Directs table clearing and resetting.
- Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment is needed.
- Ensures that banquet rooms are accurately set for all functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Directs the Banquet Captains with organization and storage locations of club equipment and décor.
- Directs the Banquet Banquet Captains in efficiently managing the scheduled times of all banquet staff.
- Oversee staff time management resolutions.
- Oversees Food & Beverage service from a managerial perspective; maintaining service standards.
- Meet as needed with the Clubhouse Manager, Event Director, and Events Operations Manager to cover details of upcoming functions.
- Direct Banquet Captains in hosting a pre-shift line-up for all events covering service details, food and beverage items, and breakdown details.
- Work with outside vendors assisting them with any special needs they may have.
- Keep up with current trends within the market and report those updates to the Banquet Manager.
- Verify function set-ups by doing a walk through and communicating with banquet staff and Kitchen.
Job Requirements or Work Experience:
- This position requires one to have an acute knowledge of service techniques
- The Events Operations Manager must be self-motivated and self-managing, efficient in time management and decision-making. They must be creative, outgoing and have excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Preferred to have a minimum of five (5) years experience with a proven track record establishing helping assist in Banquet Events while working in a team environment.
- Preferred five (5) years of fine banquet service experience.
- Preferred three (3) years management experience.
- An acute attention to detail for banquet set ups.
- Proven leadership skills and supervisory experience is a must.
- Assisting the Banquet Manager with communicating and negotiating techniques to help create an amazing experience to all those that are in contact.
- Creative, energetic outgoing personality with proven track record of impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess a deep desire and commitment for continuous improvement.
- Must have practical knowledge of social customs of etiquette, especially in regards to private events.
- Basic knowledgeable of all proper methods of food and beverage service, systems, controls and costs.
- Must be advanced in software programs: Reserve and Microsoft products.
- Proven to adhere to all privacy standards set forth by the Club and understand the importance of Membership confidential information as well as understanding the discussions of employee related information is forbidden to be discussed with Members or peers with the exception of their up-line of management.
