Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced dealership team. In this role, you will serve as the vital link between customers and our automotive service department, ensuring a seamless and positive experience from initial contact through vehicle pickup. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and service writing will help accurately assess vehicle needs, communicate repair options clearly, and promote additional services to maximize customer satisfaction and dealership profitability. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs.
- Write detailed, accurate service estimates using auto estimating software, incorporating necessary repairs such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmission work, tire service, suspension, alignment, shocks & struts, diesel engine repairs, air brake systems, auto body repairs, and other automotive diagnostics.
- Communicate repair recommendations clearly to customers, explaining technical issues in an understandable manner while highlighting benefits of recommended services.
- Upsell additional maintenance or repair services based on vehicle condition and customer needs to enhance vehicle performance and safety.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and manage service department paperwork efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all service work performed, including estimates, invoices, and customer interactions.
- Stay informed about the latest automotive repair techniques and dealership promotions to provide expert guidance on vehicle maintenance and sales opportunities.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience with a strong understanding of automotive service management and customer relations.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics across various systems including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, alignments, shocks & struts, tire services, diesel engines, and auto body repairs.
- Mechanical experience or background as a service technician is highly advantageous for technical understanding.
- Skilled in auto estimating software and proficient in auto service writing with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong sales ability with a focus on upselling complementary services to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and maintaining accurate financial records.
