Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes using electronic health record (EHR) .
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims using medical billing systems aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare and review medical documentation, including care plans, progress notes, and referral letters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Handle incoming calls with professional phone etiquette, answer inquiries related to appointments, billing, or medical records, and direct calls appropriately.
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records, test results, and correspondence while ensuring secure electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating appointment scheduling, managing multi-line phone systems, and assisting with intake procedures for new patients.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Secretary or in a similar medical administrative support role within clinics or hospitals.
- Proficiency in EMR system
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, Medicare procedures, and insurance claim submission.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and documentation review standards.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing speed (10 key typing), and electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Outstanding customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Prior clinical office experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
