Position: Varsity Wrestling Coach
Ravenna High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a coach for the Varsity Wrestling team. This seasonal position is ideal for someone with a strong background in wrestling, a commitment to athlete development, and a desire to foster teamwork and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Conduct daily practices and provide instruction on wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and game rules.
- Prepare the team for competition through effective training and conditioning programs.
- Organize and oversee team meetings, including pre-game and post-game discussions.
- Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to align team goals and player development strategies.
- Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and games.
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among players, coaches, and opponents.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist in the coordination of team travel and logistics for games and tournaments.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the secondary level (middle or high school) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained before the start of the season.
- Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games during the season.
