Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as buses, paratransit vans, or other heavy-duty transport vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers of all ages, including children and seniors, ensuring a positive experience during every trip.
- Follow school policies and transportation procedures when driving school buses or transporting students, maintaining behavior management standards.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, emergency situations, and unexpected route adjustments using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure mechanical safety; perform basic mechanical knowledge checks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members using clear English or multilingual communication skills to coordinate schedules and address concerns.
- Assist with loading heavy items or equipment when necessary, demonstrating physical strength and safety awareness during heavy lifting tasks.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, incidents, and vehicle maintenance; complete shift reports diligently.
- Adhere to all vehicle codes, traffic laws, safety regulations—including CPR and first aid protocols—and emergency stop procedures to ensure passenger safety at all times.
- Demonstrate excellent behavior management skills when working with children or individuals requiring special care; foster a respectful environment onboard.
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles with a valid CDL license.
- Familiarity with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and emergency response procedures related to transportation services.
- Prior experience working with children, seniors, or individuals needing specialized transportation is preferred.
- Knowledge of school policies related to student transport and behavior management is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems for basic troubleshooting is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for serving diverse communities.
- Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and emergency situations while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Experience in teaching or childcare environments can enhance your ability to connect positively with passengers of all ages.
