Position Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operations Officer (COO) will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from client and program management (services development, framing of key practices, high-quality service delivery, written protocols) to administration (information technology, reporting, facilities), and human capital (recruiting, mentoring, career progression). The COO will partner closely with the CEO and CFO to plan for Amani Family Services’ future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s services.
Supervisory Responsibility
The COO will directly supervise all program managers, and NALA leadership, as well as office administration personnel.

Serves as an ambassador of Amani, promoting the organization’s mission. This position promotes a culture of philanthropy by acting as a community liaison, recruiting and retaining volunteers, and documenting client stories.

Work towards meeting the goals of the fund development plan of Amani.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership oversight and administrative direction to Mission Strategy and Office Coordination functions of Amani. The COO position will support the financial performance of Amani through the deployment and accountability for program budgets.
Oversee the Mission Strategy function, by
· Serving as a member of the executive leadership team.
· Partnering with the CEO, CFO, CDO, and Board of Directors in executing the development of long-range strategic plans for all areas of responsibility and an overall strategic plan.
· Developing standards to measure and evaluate Amani’s performance and report results to CEO and Board of Directors.
· Attending Finance and Program Committees and Board of Directors meetings, preparing and presenting reports as required.
· Supporting grant writing and reporting for clinical programs.
· Executing funding for clinical program and program development and deployment.
· Overseeing internal reporting and managing client data.
· Preparing and reviewing agency contracts with community partners and founders.
· Working with key program staff to develop and implement evaluation of services.
· Directing the development and installation of operational standards, procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow for all areas.
· Representing Amani when community facing.
Oversee the office coordination functions, to include, but not limited to
· Managing assets, maintenance systems, equipment, preventive maintenance, capital improvement projects, procurement, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
· Serving as organization-wide leader on risk and security management and information technology.
Supports people management functions of Amani.
· Help develop processes and procedures for employment.
· Directly oversee performance of clinical services and supports employee success.
· Supports successful recruitment and retention efforts.
Serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer in the absence of the CEO, assuming executive leadership responsibilities and ensuring continuity of operations.
Other duties as assigned.

Work environment:

· Work is generally sedentary in nature, but will require standing and walking for up to 20% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally provided within an office environment with standard office equipment available.
· Work is also performed in the community (indoor and outdoor). This job requires travel to funders and throughout the community and the employee is exposed to changing weather conditions.
Required
· Master’s Degree in business administration, organizational leadership, international studies, human services, or related field.
· Proven record of non-profit leadership/management with understanding of non-profit budgeting and fiscal management.
· Must align with mission, vision, and core values of Amani.
· Ability to foster positive relationships with staff, stakeholders, donors and partners.
· Impeccable work ethics, judgement, independence, high level of professionalism.
· Self-starter, highly motivated and accountable with excellent project management and analytical skills.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills including grant writing experience.
· Experience with program development, deployment and assessment.
· Ability to work flexible hours.
-Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and donors in all circumstances.
· A valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
· Proven track record of implementation of innovative strategies in a non-profit sector.
