The mission of the Port Royal Sound Foundation (PRSF) is to conserve the Port Royal Sound for the environmental, cultural, and economic well-being of our area. PRSF is proud to be the leading authority and advocate for the Port Royal Sound, providing and supporting education, research, and conservation programs and initiatives to protect our watershed. Through our Maritime Center, we bring this mission to life for visitors, students, and the community.
Position Overview
This full-time, in-person role serves as the welcoming face of PRSF and provides critical support across the organization. The Marketing and Development Assistant reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Development Director, Marketing and Events Coordinator, and all staff to keep daily operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact — answer phones, greet guests, respond to emails and inquiries with professionalism and warmth
- Support the Executive Director and Development Director with stewardship, correspondence, mailings, planning, scheduling and data entry
- Assist with Marketing efforts including social media, newsletters, website, and promotional materials
- Support the Rental Program with client communications, event confirmations, and facility preparation
- Assist staff and maintain knowledge of all programs, events, and projects to execute successfully
- Oversee daily office operations: supplies, vendors, equipment, facilities, IT coordination, maintenance
- Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks
- Assist with gift shop operations including inventory, restocking, and point-of-sale support
- Help keep all spaces — office, education building, kitchen, and Maritime Center — clean and organized
- Schedule staff meetings, record and track action items, and provide support to the Board of Directors
- Cultivate relationships with volunteers, donors, Board Members, and guests to further their personal connection with the Foundation and the Port Royal Sound area
Requirements & Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing, and passionate about the PRSF mission
- Bachelor's degree and proven experience in an administrative, marketing, or development-related role preferred; equivalent work experience considered
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; professional with all stakeholders
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to multitask and adapt quickly
- High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; willingness to learn new platforms
- Design skills (Canva, Adobe, etc.) and experience with donor databases (eTapestry) a plus
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, or evenings as needed
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and car insurance required
