Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as an Aerial Lineman specializing in telecommunications! In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing aerial fiber optic and coaxial cables on utility poles and other elevated structures. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of telecommunications networks, supporting essential communication services for communities and businesses. Responsibilities
- Safely climb utility poles and work at heights using climbing gear and fall protection equipment to install and service telecommunications cables.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks to access elevated work sites efficiently and securely.
- Install, splice, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables, ensuring optimal performance of fiber optic networks.
- Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify issues within the network infrastructure.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately perform cable splicing and network installation tasks.
- Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable pulling, routing, and securing cables according to industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including cable splicing logs, installation reports, and safety documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field service roles involving outdoor telecommunications or construction work.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications cable splicing, fiber optic systems installation, and network infrastructure setup.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and low voltage electrical equipment safely and effectively.
- Experience with telecommunications testing equipment, schematics interpretation, and engineering troubleshooting support.
- Skilled in climbing utility poles with proper safety procedures; familiarity with the use of bucket trucks and other heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards for outdoor electrical work.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics.
- Excellent outdoor work experience with a focus on safety protocols; familiarity with fiber splicing techniques is preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in troubleshooting fiber optic networks and low voltage electrical systems.
- Construction experience related to telecommunication infrastructure is highly desirable.
