The Crew Leader is responsible for leading a landscape maintenance crew while performing lawn maintenance services alongside the team. This position is also responsible for maintaining the quality of work, ensuring routes are completed on time, training employees, and communicating with management regarding customer needs, equipment issues, and production goals.
The ideal candidate is a working leader who leads by example while holding the crew accountable for safety, productivity, and exceptional customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
Landscape Maintenance (70%)
- Operate commercial zero-turn mowers, stand-on mowers, edgers, trimmers, backpack blowers, and other landscape equipment.
- Perform mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, pruning, and seasonal landscape maintenance.
- Ensure every property meets quality standards before leaving.
- Assist with mulch installations, cleanups, shrub trimming, and small enhancement projects as needed.
Crew Leadership (20%)
- Lead a crew of 2–4 employees.
- Conduct morning safety and equipment inspections.
- Ensure crews leave the shop on time each morning.
- Assign daily responsibilities to crew members.
- Train new employees on equipment operation and company procedures.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and productive work environment.
- Keep production moving throughout the day by minimizing downtime.
Quality Control (10%)
- Inspect every completed property before leaving.
- Ensure:
- Grass is evenly cut.
- Sidewalks, driveways, and patios are completely blown off.
- Edges are straight and clean.
- Gates are securely closed.
- Landscaping beds are neat.
- No equipment or debris is left behind.
- Take before-and-after photos when required.
- Immediately report customer concerns or property damage.
- Perform random quality checks on other crews when assigned by the Operations Manager.
Daily Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and prepared to work.
- Complete assigned route efficiently.
- Maintain daily production goals.
- Keep truck and trailer clean and organized.
- Perform daily equipment inspections.
- Report maintenance needs immediately.
- Fuel and clean equipment at the end of each day.
- Complete route notes and report any missed properties.
Leadership Expectations
The Crew Leader is expected to:

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of commercial landscape maintenance experience.
- Experience operating commercial landscape equipment.
- Previous crew leadership experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to tow a trailer (preferred).
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme Louisiana heat and weather conditions.
