Join the University Orthopedic Care Team as a Certified Hyperbaric Technician!
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Hyperbaric Technician to join our team in a state-of-the-art facility and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our practice.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily start-up and shut down of the Hyperbaric facility.
- Operating and monitoring hyperbaric chamber equipment.
- Following prescribed treatment protocols for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- Clean and maintain the equipment according to infection control standards.
- Inspecting and performing regular maintenance checks on hyperbaric equipment.
- Maintain equipment and checks backup air and oxygen supplies daily. Assisting physicians and nurses with patient preparation for therapy.
- Providing patient education and orientation about hyperbaric oxygen therapy; educates patient and/or patient's family as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy before treatment.
- Basic Review of Systems and safety checklist review
- Blood glucose monitoring. Monitoring patient vital signs before, during, and after therapy Maintaining accurate patient records and documenting the therapy process
- Adhering to safety protocols to prevent and handle any emergencies. Communicating with patients, explaining the therapy process, and addressing their concerns
- Providing basic life support including CPR if necessary. Participating in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated with the latest techniques and safety procedures in hyperbaric medicine
- Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric provider.
- The safe and efficient operation of the hyperbaric chamber and related support systems as well as the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.
- Performs chamber operations, including pressurization/depressurization of patients, pressure maintenance during treatment, chambers maintenance and troubleshooting minor chamber problems.
- Monitoring patients in the chamber, including recording condition and ensuring comfort during treatment.
- Evaluate the patient outcome and meet with the manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment, as necessary.
- Consult with hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions. Assess patient condition prior to and after hyperbaric treatment. Document and report treatment details in patient’s chart; complete and maintain patient treatment/diagnostic records.
- Maintain and clean hyperbaric chamber and other related equipment. Maintaining applicable operating, maintenance, and safety logs.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols. Respond to emergency situations as needed. Participate in QA/QI initiatives, Maintain continuous quality improvement duties and chart audits.
- Assist in patient scheduling and coordination of hyperbaric treatment plans. Answer telephone inquiries and schedule patient treatment times.
- Maintains adequate supplies needed for patient treatments. Perform an inventory check and maintain a record of supplies and laundry items.
- Performs other duties as assigned. This includes assisting the office with rooming patients and obtaining vitals. Assisting with hyperbaric clearances exams with the Hyperbaric clearing provider.
Qualifications:
- Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT or CHRN).
- Previous work experience in hyperbaric medicine preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
