As a commodity buyer you will be responsible for the sourcing & procurement activities associated for a set of GE sites and Suppliers within a commodity. You will manage the buying process for Coatings and Special Processes with responsibility to achieve the best contractual position, as measured through a total cost of ownership model, while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction across several GE Aerospace internal sites.
You will collaborate with a cross functional team when negotiating with suppliers in accordance with Sourcing policies. This role is responsible for ownership of buying activity related to supplier contracts. The role requires cross-functional partnership, process rigor and discipline to standard work within your respective supply base.
Roles and Responsibilities

Achieving the best contractual conditions, while maintaining supplier relationships

Progressing the activities of supplier selection, proposals and quotes, quote analysis, negotiation, supply award, and contract authoring

Completing sourcing and procurement activities compliantly per applicable policies and procedures

Supplier data set up & maintenance to enable contract management and fulfillment activities (I.e. lead time, material configuration, etc.)

Accountable for purchase agreement (PA) health to ensure contracts are not running out of quantity, time and are renegotiated in accordance with Sourcing policies and guidelines

Maintaining market awareness and an in depth understanding of key business drivers to inform supplier selection

Bringing forward creative contractual solutions to promote overall contract performance / total cost of ownership

Forming and developing cross-functional teams to develop deal and negotiation strategy

Utilizing technical expertise, collaboration and judgement to solve problems

Acting as a resource for colleagues with less experience to provide coaching and training

Explaining information to bring team members to consensus around topics within field

Conveying performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience)

Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience
