Overview
We are seeking an energetic and passionate Montessori Assistant Teacher to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support classroom activities, foster a love of learning, and help create an engaging environment that encourages independence and curiosity among young learners. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of children in a well-established Montessori setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Prepared Environment: Help maintain the classroom according to Montessori standards. This includes ensuring materials are clean, complete, organized, and accessible to the children.
- Guide and Observe: Assist children in choosing purposeful work. Cultivate a peaceful environment by modeling Grace and Courtesy, redirecting behavior gently, and managing small groups when necessary.
- Foster Independence: Support children in developing self-help skills (e.g., care of person, care of the environment) appropriate for their developmental stage.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher: Collaborate regularly with the Lead Teacher to discuss student observations, classroom dynamics, and daily preparation needs. Act as a second pair of eyes and hands in the room.
- Supervise Safely: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during classroom time, outdoor play, transitions, and arrivals/departures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a structured setting (school, daycare, camp, etc.) is highly valued.
- Montessori Familiarity: Prior knowledge of or training in the Montessori method is a plus, but a strong willingness to learn and embrace the philosophy is essential.
- Key Traits: Exceptional patience, strong communication skills, a calm demeanor, and the ability to take initiative while following the Lead Teacher's guidance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to comfortably sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and lift up to 30–40 lbs to interact with children at their eye level.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
