We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Advocate to support an individual with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. The ideal candidate will provide personalized care, assist with daily activities, and promote independence within a supportive environment. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for those served and fostering inclusive community participation.
*Part-time role on weekends*
Duties
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including (some) personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support
- Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy
- Light meal prep
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Provide direct support tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring safety and well-being
- Support community integration through transportation, social activities, and community outings
- Collect and document data related to progress, behavior, and service delivery for reporting purposes
- Administer medications as prescribed following proper protocols
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Assist with caregiving tasks in home or community settings, ensuring a nurturing environment
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and client progress
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred
- Background in special education, behavioral health, or social work is advantageous
- Experience in home & community care settings or caregiving roles is beneficial
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and data collection methods preferred
- Skills in American Sign Language or other communication techniques are a plus
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record are desirable for transportation duties (if needed, not at this time)
- Excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
