Job description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teachers to assist in planning and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall supervision and daily classroom function of children.
- Adhere to New Fairfield Bright Beginnings Policy & Procedure in accordance with local and state regulations pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Assess each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the curriculum and programming with support of the Preschool Coordinator.
- Meet the individual needs of children including feeding and diapering/toilet training.
- Coordinate with Leadership to schedule parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
- Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
- Provide verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Accept responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Attend all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
- Maintain overall professional personal appearance adhering to our guidelines.
- Assist in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary.
- Communicating appropriately and professionally with children, parents and fellow staff.
Desired skills and experience:
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- Childcare setting experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid Training certificate is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask and remain organized.
- Ability to work within operating hours; Ability to work closing hours are preferred.
- Must meet state requirements for childcare employment.
- Ability to build relationships with children and families.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
