Company description
At Inneos, LLC, we design and manufacture advanced VCSEL-based optical components, subsystems, and end-user products for the medical, military, aerospace, and commercial OEM markets. Our technology powers high-definition optical interconnects for operating rooms, flight control systems, security, conferencing, and premium home theater applications. As we continue to expand into high-speed datacom, optical sensing, and industrial automation, we are building the next generation of photonic and high-speed electronic solutions.
With operations in Pleasanton, CA; Alpharetta, GA; and Zephyr Cove, NV, Inneos offers engineers the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems and develop innovative products from concept through production.
Position Summary:
The Product Engineer plays a key role in bringing advanced optical and high-speed electronic products from initial concept through full production. Operating across product development, qualification, test automation, and continuous improvement, this hands-on role owns product performance, manufacturability, and yield in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Own product performance across prototype validation, qualification, manufacturing release, and sustaining engineering.
- Test & Process Automation: Develop and optimize automated manufacturing and test execution systems, including automated pick-and-place programming and test script development.
- Failure Analysis (FA): Perform electrical, optical, and component failure analysis to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement in product reliability and manufacturing yield.
- Lab Characterization: Characterize high-speed optical transceivers, optoelectronic devices, and electrical interfaces.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware design, software, and manufacturing teams to transition new product introductions (NPI) smoothly from engineering to volume production.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Automation Software: Strong experience developing automated test scripts and data analysis tools using Python (e.g., PyVISA, NumPy, Pandas, SCPI).
- Instrumentation: Hands-on experience with high-speed laboratory instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters.
- Hardware Aptitude: Solid understanding of high-speed electronic circuit fundamentals, signal integrity, and optical communication principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with optoelectronic components such as VCSELs, edge-emitting lasers, photodiodes, or optical transceivers.
- Direct exposure to automated assembly processes (e.g., SMT, pick-and-place equipment, die bonding).
- Familiarity with root-cause failure analysis methodologies and statistical process control (SPC).
Travel Requirements :
- Frequency: Occasional travel (typically 10% – 15%).
- Scope: May include domestic travel between Inneos locations (Pleasanton, CA; Alpharetta, GA; Zephyr Cove, NV) or visits to key manufacturing partners and customer sites as needed for product deployment, NPI bring-up, or supplier collaboration.
Why Join Inneos?
This role offers direct ownership across the entire product lifecycle—from initial engineering decisions to factory floor deployment. Candidates who thrive on multi-disciplinary engineering, fast-paced execution, and hands-on problem solving will quickly gain high-impact technical leadership in a collaborative, agile environment.
