Pharmacy Technician – Job Description (Michigan)
Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, maintains accurate records, and supports daily pharmacy operations in compliance with Michigan state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing, labeling, and dispensing medications
- Enter and verify prescription and patient information accurately
- Maintain medication inventory, including stocking and expiration checks
- Process insurance claims and handle billing-related tasks
- Provide customer service under pharmacist supervision
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the pharmacy
- Follow all pharmacy laws, policies, and HIPAA requirements
Required Qualifications (Michigan):
- High school diploma or GED
- Active Michigan Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Michigan Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer and data entry skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
- Prior pharmacy or healthcare experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
