Job Summary:
Medical Assistant: Assists physician and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the physician. Administrative duties may include but are not limited to: scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, responding to patient phone calls/requests. Clinical duties may include but are not limited to: preparing treatment room for patient exams/procedures, recording patient medical history, performing patient x-rays, and cleaning/sterilizing medical equipment.
General Responsibilities:
● Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and document all relevant medical information in patient’s chart.
● Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patient’s medical records prior to their appointment.
● Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential.
● Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations/procedures; Assist physician as needed.
● Cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
● Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, perform sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies
● Maintains supply stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
● Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. expired medications, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
● Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
● Removes sutures, changes dressings, perform professional foot care, perform patient x-rays.
Job Qualifications:
● Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent substitute. Completion of Medical Assistant Program.
● Minimum Certifications and/or Licenses: CPR certification required; certification as a medical assistant (CMA) preferred.
● Minimum Skills: Experience with EMR, MS Word, Excel.
