Overview
Southern Arc Welding is hiring a reliable and experienced Welder/Fabricator for field-based work. This role involves in shop and on-site fabrication and installation of metal buildings, gates, railings, and other custom steel work. Candidates must be able to fit and weld independently and provide their own reliable truck capable of hauling a welding skid
Duties
- Fit up and weld structural steel components for buildings, gates, railings, etc.
- Read and follow blueprints, shop drawings, and site plans
- Perform MIG and Stick welding as needed
- Work on active construction and development sites
- Maintain safety and workmanship standards
- Transport welding skid and tools to job sites with own truck
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct inspections of finished products to ensure they meet specifications and are free from defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations at all times.
- Perform basic math calculations to determine material requirements and measurements for fabrication tasks.
Requirements
- Proven experience in welding and fabrication, with a strong understanding of mechanical principles.
- Proficiency in using power tools and welding equipment, particularly FCAW.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings effectively.
- Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety practices.
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations in fabrication processes.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Must have own reliable truck to haul welding skid
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
