Job Summary
CML Roofing & General Contracting is looking for an experienced Siding Foreman / Lead Carpenter to lead our new in-house siding crew. We are an established exterior remodeling company serving Southern Maine and the surrounding areas. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong carpentry and siding experience, and is comfortable taking the lead on residential siding projects from start to finish.
This is a hands-on position. You will work alongside two skilled installers while also being responsible for leading the crew, maintaining quality standards, and keeping projects moving efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise window, door, trim, and siding installation projects, including vinyl, wood, and fiber cement, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety protocols
- Coordinate daily activities on the job site, assigning tasks to crew members and monitoring progress to meet deadlines
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, scaffolding, ladders, and heavy lifting equipment safely and efficiently during installation processes
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the project to ensure craftsmanship meets company standards and client expectations
- Maintain strict compliance with construction safety regulations such as fall protection harnesses, ladder safety procedures, and workplace safety protocols
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to interpret project plans, resolve issues promptly, and ensure seamless communication
- Ensure completed work meets CML’s workmanship and quality standards
- Properly maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicle
Skills
- Extensive residential construction experience with a strong focus on siding installation, exterior trim, and carpentry
- Strong knowledge of siding installation techniques, including proper layout, flashing, weatherproofing, trim details, soffit, and fascia
- Skilled in general and finish carpentry, with the ability to troubleshoot and complete exterior repairs as needed
- Proficiency with common hand tools, power tools, saws, siding brakes, and other exterior construction equipment
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, lay out, and install siding and trim materials
- Ability to identify and problem-solve unforeseen jobsite conditions without requiring constant supervision
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, including safe use of ladders, staging, and jobsite equipment
- Demonstrated leadership and crew management skills, with the ability to direct, train, and work alongside other installers
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship, efficiency, and maintaining a clean jobsite
- Ability to communicate effectively with Project Managers, other crew members, and homeowners when necessary
Qualifications
- Strong residential carpentry experience required
- Previous siding installation experience required
- Ability to independently complete exterior trim and carpentry details
- Ability to read measurements, plan layouts, and problem-solve in the field
- Comfortable leading and directing a small crew
- Reliable, professional, and able to communicate effectively
- Comfortable working outdoors and at heights
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to our South Portland location
- Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials and equipment
Schedule & Location
This is a full-time position based out of South Portland, Maine. The crew will generally meet at our South Portland location and travel together in a company vehicle to jobsites throughout Southern Maine and occasionally into New Hampshire
Most of our projects are located within approximately one hour of our South Portland, ME location or one hour of our Strafford, NH location
Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours. Schedule may vary depending on project needs and weather.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
