PeaceHealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Per Diem, Variable position.
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $40.11 – $60.17. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed patient assessments to determine respiratory needs, including vital signs, oxygenation levels, and pulmonary function.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as nebulization, oxygen therapy, and medication delivery in accordance with physician orders.
- Manage ventilator systems for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, ensuring optimal settings and continuous monitoring for safety and efficacy.
- Assist in airway management procedures including intubation, extubation, and airway clearance techniques within hospital protocols.
- Monitor and document patient progress, vital signs, and response to therapies accurately within electronic health records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in acute care environments such as ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), trauma centers, and emergency departments.
- Maintain proficiency with physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to respiratory health across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety regulations during all procedures.
- Participate in ongoing education to stay current with advances in pulmonology, critical care practices, and hospital protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience working within hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in emergency medicine scenarios requiring rapid response and airway management skills.
- Prior experience in ICU or critical care environments with ventilator management is essential.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinics or pulmonology practices is advantageous for broader patient care delivery.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to respiratory systems, and physiology is required for effective assessment and treatment planning.
- Experience working with pediatric patients (Pediatrics) as well as adult populations ensures comprehensive care delivery.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
