PT - Testing Technician I
Salary:
$15.15 per hour
Summary of Function:
Provides professional testing services support to students, faculty, staff, and community members by assisting with the administration, monitoring, and security of academic, accommodated, and standardized examinations. Ensures compliance with college policies, testing vendor requirements, accessibility standards, and FERPA regulations while delivering excellent customer service in a secure testing environment.
Typical Duties:
- Serves Students. Provides customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members; verifies identification, explains testing procedures, and ensures accurate check-in and check-out processes. Maintains confidentiality of student and testing records in compliance with FERPA.
- Administers and proctors academic, accommodated, placement, and third-party examinations according to college and testing vendor regulations while maintaining exam security and standardized testing conditions.
- Monitors testing environments to ensure compliance with testing policies, monitors academic misconduct, and responds appropriately to irregularities or emergencies.
- Prepares testing materials and rooms, maintains secure testing logs and records, and safeguards confidential testing documents and electronic data.
- Provides administrative and clerical support, including answering phones, scheduling exams, scanning, filing, data entry, and assisting with testing software systems and databases.
- Assists students and faculty with exam scheduling systems and provides basic technical troubleshooting related to testing platforms and equipment.
- Maintains the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of testing facilities and equipment to support a professional testing environment.
- Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of customer service, clerical, educational support, or related experience
- Experience working with computers and standard office software applications

- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to obtain certification to administer standardized and third-party examinations
- Ability to sign and comply with testing vendor security agreements and non-disclosure agreements
- Arizona Driver’s License or Equivalent
Classification:
Position Type & Work Schedule:
- Part-time, 12-month position
- Up to 19 hours per week
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include
Fridays, nights, and/or weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
- Knowledge of standardized testing administration and test security protocols
- Knowledge of accommodated testing procedures and applicable compliance requirements
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software,
specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications
especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
- Skill in maintaining secure testing records and documentation
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to
detail
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a
professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA and privacy guidelines
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using
independent judgment and decision-making processes
- Ability to enforce testing policies and safeguard exam integrity
- Ability to monitor testing environments and document irregularities
- Ability to provide basic technical troubleshooting and respond effectively to urgent testing disruptions
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels
of the organization, students, and the public
Work Environment:
- Inside office environment with normal noise and lighting levels
- Regulated and quiet testing environment requiring sustained attention and observation
- Work is performed in an open office environment with staff, student, and community contact and interruptions
- May work across multiple campuses or off-site testing locations as needed
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
- Prolonged visual monitoring of testing rooms
- May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times a minimum of 10 pounds
- Safely and appropriately operate golf carts or district vehicles
Travel:
- May be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to support program, department and institutional needs
