A Medical-Surgical RN, or Med/Surg RN, provides direct care to patients dealing with illnesses, injuries or surgeries. Their duties include admitting and monitoring patients, administering medications and managing medical equipment.
Medical-Surgical RN duties and responsibilities
Medical-Surgical RNs have a broad range of responsibilities. They provide, coordinate and document medical care throughout a patient’s stay at a facility. Specific responsibilities depend on the healthcare setting and the ailment in question, but some common Medical-Surgical RN job duties are:
- Admitting and assessing patients
- Administering medications and treatments
- Monitoring vital signs and symptoms
- Operating and tracking medical equipment
- Running and ordering tests
- Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
- Charting patient progress
License and Certification Required:
- BLS from AHA
- ACLS from AHA
- NIHSS from AHA
- RN License in TX or multistate License
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $2,200.00 - $2,250.00 per week
