The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operationof all equipment and systems within the frac sand processing facility. This role performspreventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, and supports continuousimprovement efforts to minimize downtime and maximize production.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plant equipment including conveyors,screens, pumps, dryers, bucket elevators, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic failures and perform corrective repairs.
Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or misalignment and replace parts as needed.
Maintain lubrication schedules and ensure proper functioning of bearings, gearboxes, androtating equipment.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to reduce downtime.
Collaborate with plant operators and supervisors to resolve recurring issues.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all plant safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and MSHA regulations.
Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage records.
Assist in maintaining inventory of spare parts and supplies.
Provide feedback on equipment performance and recommend improvements.
Project & Improvement Work
Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment.
Support plant upgrades, modifications, and reliability initiatives.
Work with contractors and vendors when needed
Qualifications
Required
Experience in industrial, mining, or manufacturing maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to repair conveyors, motors, pumps, and rotatingequipment.
Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, VFDs, troubleshooting).
Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals. Ability to work in outdoor, dusty, and physically demanding environments.
Preferred
Experience in frac sand, aggregates, mining, or similar processing plants.
Welding and fabrication skills (stick, cutting torch).
Knowledge of PLCs and automated systems.
MSHA certification or willingness to obtain it.
Work Environment
12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, nights/weekends as needed.
Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy machinery.
Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, bending, and working at heights.
