Job Summary:
The Penobscot Nation Health Department is seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and patient-centered Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner/Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Provider to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to members of the Penobscot Nation community. This position plays a critical role in improving access to quality healthcare while supporting the Nation’s commitment to wellness, recovery, and culturally responsive care.The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Penobscot Nation community through compassionate, high-quality care.
Qualifications Required:
· Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
· 3-5 Years Clinical Experience required.
· Valid State of Maine Nursing License.
· Valid Federal DEA License.
· BLS Certification.
· 1-2 years’ experience in substance use disorder treatment preferred.
· Native American Preference will be adhered to in accordance with the Penobscot Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
o Be responsible for following confidentiality procedures as outlines in the Privacy Act and HIPAA
o Maintains records in compliance with professional, federal and other applicable guidelines; ensures compliance with all accrediting agencies and with PNHD policies and procedures.
o Meet regularly with the PNHD MAT Team to coordinate patient care
o Provide Medication-Assisted Therapy service to both local and remote clients via in-person sessions and telehealth delivery
o Provide education, prevention counseling, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of urgent/acute current condition and/or diseases and disorders clinically related to Substance Use Disorder, e.g. HIV, Hepatitis C, etc.
o Refer clients to other staff as appropriate to provide nutrition, dental, environmental health, community health, and substance abuse/counseling services.
o Refer patients to off-site specialty services as necessary under supervision of medical Director
o Prescribe medications consistent with DEA and PNHD policies
o Assist in implementation of community education and prevention programs
o Analyzes patient reports and findings; prescribes medications and administers treatment plans.
o Provide for the timely completion of requests for information regarding disability and insurance claims
- Interacts professionally and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of Penobscot Nation goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork.
- Conforms to acceptable attendance/punctuality standards as expressed in the employee handbook.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements:
Physical demands include activities associated with providing direct care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient services, on-call and participation in meetings. Most work performed in an outpatient clinical setting. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a clinic environment.
