Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Gate Operator and Access Control Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated gate systems across residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, and commission automated gate operators, access control systems, and related components (slide gates, swing gates, barrier arms, bollards)
- Perform preventive maintenance on existing gate systems per manufacturer specifications and service agreements
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system failures
- Install and integrate access control equipment including keypads, card readers, intercoms, loop detectors, and safety devices
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation manuals
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding system issues, completed work, and recommended repairs or upgrades
- Complete service reports, parts documentation, and timesheets accurately and on time
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory in good working order
- Coordinate with dispatch and service management on scheduling and parts procurement
- Ensure all work meets applicable codes, manufacturer guidelines, and company safety standards
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in gate operator installation and service, low-voltage electrical, or a closely related field (access control, garage doors, fencing, or general electrical)
- Working knowledge of 12V/24V DC and 110V/220V AC electrical systems
- Familiarity with major gate operator brands (LiftMaster, FAAC, Viking, Linear, DoorKing, or similar)
- Basic understanding of access control systems and wiring
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Professional appearance and customer-facing communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs
Preferred:
- Experience with intercoms, camera systems, or perimeter security
- Welding or light fabrication experience
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
