Overview
The Runcible Spoon Bakery is a classic bakery on a quaint corner of downtown Nyack. Family-owned for over 20 years, we serve specialty coffee and freshly baked pastries that blend American classics with the owner's vibrant Korean-American upbringing.
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to join our dynamic team. As a Barista, you will play a vital role in creating an exceptional customer experience by preparing high-quality beverages and providing outstanding service. Your expertise in coffee and food preparation will contribute to the warm and inviting atmosphere of our café.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks with precision and care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Restock supplies and assist with light food prep as needed
- Operate the POS systems for efficient order processing and cash handling.
- Assist with food preparation and serving, ensuring all items meet quality standards.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including basic math calculations for change.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive work environment and support overall café operations.
Experience
- Previous barista or coffee experience is preferred, but not required. We are happy to train enthusiastic candidates!
- Experience in food service or the food industry is beneficial, including knowledge of food handling practices.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
- Basic math skills for accurate cashiering and retail math applications.

- Comfortable handling cash, basic math skills, and operating a POS system (or willingness to learn)
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
