Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care and support clinical operations across various specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, and emergency medicine settings. Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to monitor patient status accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes clearly and ensuring their comfort.
- Support clinical procedures including medication administration, wound care, X-ray preparation, and basic life support (BLS) as needed.
- Document medical information precisely using medical terminology, ICD coding for diagnoses, and anatomy/physiology knowledge to ensure accurate records.
- Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and maintain a clean clinical environment adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in inpatient settings like the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics clinics, or Level I/II trauma centers to deliver seamless patient care.
- Assist with hospital-based activities such as inpatient rounds or outpatient visits across internal medicine or surgical departments.
- Support emergency medicine teams during urgent situations by providing vital assistance in Level I trauma centers or urgent care clinics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient or hospital environments; experience in dermatology, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as EHR systems proficiency or X-ray operation are a plus.
- Familiarity with hospital experience including Level I/II trauma centers or Level II trauma center experience preferred.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics (PICU).
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as urgent care clinics or medical-surgical units while maintaining attention to detail.
