Summary
Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, production machines, electrical equipment, and related plant equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Observes mechanical devices and production equipment during operation and listens for unusual sounds to identify causes of equipment problems.
· Dismantles machinery and mechanical devices as required to gain access to and remove defective parts.
· Examines the form, condition, and surface of parts to identify imperfections or damage.
· Inspects used parts to determine wear and changes in dimensional requirements.
· Adjusts functional parts of machinery, mechanical devices, and control instruments.
· Repairs or replaces defective parts and installs special functional or structural components as required.
· Cleans and lubricates machinery parts and components.
· Starts and operates repaired equipment to test performance and verify proper operation.
· Sets up and operates lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to manufacture or repair parts.
· Initiates purchase requests for replacement parts, equipment, and machinery as required.
· Repairs electrical equipment within the scope of assigned duties and training.
· Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts when required and properly trained.
· Inspects the plant daily for safety-related issues or hazards and reports or addresses identified conditions according to company procedures.
· Follows established procedures for Maintenance Request Forms and maintenance work orders.
· Maintains tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and work locations in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
