Job Purpose
A scale operator's responsibilities include maintaining customer relations, collecting and verifying data, and
operating computer systems. They must be able to weigh and ticket products using basic math skills and maintain a professional manner while interacting with customers. They also perform administrative tasks such as filing and data entry. They're responsible for verifying product tickets, checking product quality, and operating scales. They must also compare and check product labels and perform safety briefings and regulations.

Key Job Elements
Document quantity, quality, type, weight, data, and value of materials or products to maintain shipping,
receiving, and production records and files;
Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information about incoming shipments such as those
from haulers and customers;
Maintain financial records, such as accounts of daily collections and billings, and records of receipts issued;
Inspect incoming loads of material to identify contents and to screen for the presence of specific regulated or hazardous wastes;
Demonstrate professional conduct at all times;
Treat all persons with courtesy and respect;
The ability to express themselves fluently and spontaneously with customers, vendors and team members;
The ability to follow directions and safety regulations;
Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
Manage the master calendar and schedule resources;
Assist and in some cases manage other administrative duties such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivables and logistics/inventory actions.
Education / Training
High School diploma or GED
Qualifications and Experience
0‐2 years Recycle/Scrap Yard experience required.
Preferred Skills
Advanced Windows Operating Systems experience;
Previous experience in an industrial work‐related setting;
Accounting or Business Degree;
Previous Scale/Recycle/Scrap Yard work experience.
