Overview
We are seeking a highly creative, meticulous, and independent Graphic Designer to create high-detail vector artwork for custom LEGO® minifigures. In this role, you will design complex, multi-layered graphics for minifigure torsos, heads, and legs. This position requires an expert command of Adobe Illustrator and a deep understanding of designing for physical, small-scale print mediums (such as UV printing or pad printing).
The ideal candidate can take a concept or reference image and translate it into a perfectly scaled, production-ready vector template without hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
- Vector Design: Create clean, fully scalable vector artwork for custom minifigure parts using Adobe Illustrator.
- Template Precision: Layout artwork precisely onto predefined specialized technical templates (including multi-view layouts).
- Production Preparation: Organize layers logically, manage stroke weights, and set up accurate color profiles (including spot channels/white ink backing if required).
- Independent Execution: Own the design process from initial concept/reference photo to the final production-ready file with minimal supervision.
- Quality Control: Maintain an extreme eye for detail, ensuring alignment, geometric symmetry, and line work are flawless at a microscopic print scale.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Adobe Illustrator Mastery: Expert proficiency with vector tools, pen tools, pathfinders, artboard management, and advanced layer organization.
- Extreme Attention to Detail: Ability to design within tight, millimeter-scale tolerances where micro-alignments matter.
- Independent & Self-Motivated: Proven ability to manage your own timeline, problem-solve design challenges, and deliver files on schedule.
- Creative Problem Solver: Ability to adapt complex real-world clothing, armor, or facial features into the iconic, stylized LEGO aesthetic.
- Strong Communication: Responsive, open to feedback, and capable of handling minor design revisions efficiently.
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
- Experience designing graphics specifically for toy customization, pad printing, or UV printing.
- Familiarity with print-production software (e.g., Roland VersaWorks, FlexiDesigner).
- A portfolio showcasing clean vector art, character design, or technical line work.
- An understanding or appreciation of the LEGO hobby and minifigure geometry.
