What You'll Do:
This position is ideal for those looking for an entry point to a stable career path with significant growth options. This is a hands-on role where you will be working in a construction materials lab environment (think concrete and other road and bridge materials.) As a Lab Technician Trainee, you will assist with various tasks including receiving samples from clients, sample logging, preparation and testing of samples, equipment maintenance, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role is critical throughout the construction process of roads, bridges, structures, and utility projects. Laboratory Technician Trainees should take pride in being self-sufficient while also being capable team players who can share tasks and work together when required. This position is supervised and trained by the Lab Manager. While tasks vary throughout the day, you would primarily be responsible for:
- Inspecting, testing, and classification of aggregate, concrete, and soils per AASHTO, ASTM, and FDOT.
- Tracking and entering samples into their appropriate database.
- Performing standard tests including gradations, maximum densities, LBR’s, Atterberg Limits, organic content, and concrete strength.
- Performing simple calculations and result analysis.
- Effectively communicating and sharing test results with contractors, project managers, engineers, and FDOT personnel.
What You'll Need:
- High School diploma
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clear driving record.
- Able to drive up to 1.5-hour periods of time.
- Ability to move asphalt samples and lab supplies around lab (buckets weigh up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to safely operate equipment, ovens, and handle hot materials.
- Ability to work in a hot environment with loud repetitive noises.
- Ability to review documents on a standard computer screen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and ability to spend time on laptop entering data and identifying colored flags
Required Certifications:
- None required, the Company will provide both formal and on-the-job training to attain certificates

This position can advance to Lab Technician, Sr. Lab Technician and Lab Manager.
