Foundation for Successful Living is seeking a compassionate and energetic Life Skills Instructor/Direct Support Professional to work alongside adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in community settings.
This is not a desk job! You'll spend your day out in the community helping individuals develop independent living skills, build friendships, volunteer, and participate in activities they enjoy. Every day offers new opportunities to teach, encourage, and celebrate successes.
What You'll Do
- Teach and reinforce life skills that promote greater independence
- Support individuals during community outings, volunteer opportunities, fitness activities, and social events
- Encourage communication, problem-solving, and healthy decision-making
- Foster a positive, respectful, and person-centered environment
- Safely transport individuals to community activities using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Maintain required supervision and ensure client health and safety
- Complete daily documentation and promptly report any concerns or incidents
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions
- Comfortable with an active job that includes walking, bending, lifting mobility equipment, and assisting with transfers as needed
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, current auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
- CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire (free training available)

Schedule
- Monday-Friday | 8:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
- Minimum availability of 3 days per week
