Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection (including blood collection).
- Provide high-quality animal husbandry and care, ensuring animals are comfortable, clean, and well-fed.
- Maintain accurate records of medical treatments, laboratory tests, and patient histories using veterinary terminology.
- Support laboratory work such as sample processing and diagnostic testing to aid in accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animals safely during examinations and procedures, demonstrating expertise in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and animal physiology.
- Administer medications via various routes including oral, injectable, or topical applications while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and maintaining organized pet care records.
- Contribute to pet care routines including feeding, cleaning kennels or cages, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of illness or distress.
- Uphold safety standards through proper use of veterinary equipment and adherence to infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic or similar setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques across various species.
- Experience with kennel management, pet care routines, and animal restraint methods. Applicants must be able to hold/ lift 50lbs.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform medication administration accurately and safely.
- Ability to draw blood and place IV catheters in patients of all sizes.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively.
