Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into an impactful role supporting the education and development of students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with K-12 students, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential in an inclusive educational environment. The assignment will begin as soon as possible and extend through the end of the current school year, with a commitment of 37.5 hours each week across five days.
Qualifications:
- Active California Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching License required
- Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in a school or educationally focused setting
- Strong understanding of best practices for instructing deaf and hard of hearing students
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting diverse learning needs
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized and group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Implement appropriate instructional materials and technologies to facilitate student learning
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student IEPs
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress, adjusting support as needed
- Advocate for the educational and social needs of students in your care
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives
