Las Cruces Wellness & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN or LPN to join our nursing leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong nurse leader who enjoys supporting staff, improving clinical outcomes, and helping maintain a high standard of resident care.
The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator to support the day-to-day operations of the nursing department, maintain regulatory compliance, and provide leadership to our nursing team.
We are looking for a visible, hands-on leader who supports the team, holds staff accountable, follows through on responsibilities, and is willing to step in wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily management of nursing services
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing supervisors
- Conduct clinical rounds and identify opportunities to improve resident care
- Monitor changes in resident condition and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation
- Participate in daily clinical meetings and interdisciplinary care planning
- Assist with nursing audits, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives
- Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Assist with survey preparation, complaint investigations, Plans of Correction, and ongoing regulatory compliance
- Support programs related to falls, wounds, infection prevention, medication management, and other clinical areas
- Assist with staff education, competencies, coaching, and performance management
- Investigate incidents, accidents, grievances, and clinical concerns as assigned
- Promote effective communication between nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and other departments
- Assist with maintaining appropriate staffing and effective utilization of nursing resources
- Serve as a clinical resource and leadership presence throughout the facility
- Provide nursing leadership coverage and support as needed
Qualifications
- Current RN or LPN license in New Mexico or applicable Compact State license
- Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of nursing standards and clinical practices
- Understanding of CMS and state regulatory requirements preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coach and develop employees while maintaining accountability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining a visible leadership presence

Pay: $38.00 - $46.00 per hour
