Position Summary
· Spirit Truck Lines is seeking a motivated and organized Safety Coordinator / Recruiter to join our team in San Juan, TX. This position combines driver recruiting with transportation safety and compliance responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can recruit qualified CDL drivers while helping maintain a safe, compliant, and professional fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Recruiting
· Recruit qualified CDL drivers through job boards, social media, referrals, and other recruiting channels.
· Screen applicants and conduct initial phone interviews.
· Verify driver qualifications, experience, and employment history.
· Coordinate the hiring and onboarding process for new drivers.
· Maintain accurate recruiting records and applicant information.
· Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
· Help meet company driver-hiring and retention goals.
· Retention follow ups.
Safety & Compliance
· Assist with maintaining driver qualification files and safety records.
· Monitor driver compliance with company policies and applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements.
· Review driver safety performance, violations, accidents, and incidents.
· Assist with safety orientations and training for new and existing drivers.
· Help coordinate drug and alcohol testing and other required compliance processes.
· Maintain accurate documentation and follow up on missing or expired information.
· Communicate safety expectations and company policies to drivers.
Qualifications
· Candidate must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A license.
· Previous experience in trucking, transportation, driver recruiting, safety, or compliance preferred.
· Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations is a plus.
· Strong Recruiting experience is preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
· Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
· Proficiency with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and online recruiting platforms.
· Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
· Ability to work independently while being an effective team member.
