THE POSITION
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Maintenance Foreman who is eager to lead and inspire inmate work crews at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Chester. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position plays a key role in directing inmate work crews and supporting maintenance and repair activities across the facility. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews as they complete maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks
- Work Planning: Plan daily inmate schedules, assign tasks, and review completed work
- Equipment Instruction: Provide instruction on operating machinery and vehicles and performing preventative maintenance
- Trade Assistance: Assist maintenance staff with semi-skilled and skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, steam-fitting, welding, and other skilled trades
- Tool Control: Issue, inventory, and track tools and materials and conduct searches to ensure accountability
- Task Direction: Exercise technical independence to identify required tools and materials, guide inmates in carrying out work routines, and establish plans and procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
