Freelance / Independent Contractor – Audio-Visual Technician
Informed Decisions Group (IDG) is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Audio-Visual Technician to join our existing technology team on a project-by-project basis.
Our technicians support IDG's proprietary Virtual Aisle technology at market research projects throughout the U.S. and internationally. We are looking for someone who can independently transport, set up, operate, troubleshoot, and break down our equipment while providing a professional experience for our clients.
What You'll Do
- Transport audiovisual equipment to and from project locations
- Independently set up and operate IDG's Virtual Aisle system
- Assemble and disassemble projection equipment, screens, wiring, and support equipment
- Configure multiple displays and troubleshoot Windows-based systems
- Work with media servers and projection technology
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or technical issues quickly during live projects
- Communicate professionally with clients and IDG's project team
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional project environment
- Safely disassemble, pack, and transport equipment following each project
- Maintain equipment inventory and report missing or damaged equipment
- Perform basic cleaning, maintenance, and repairs as needed
- Travel to project locations, including occasional domestic and international assignments
What We're Looking For
- Previous professional experience in audiovisual technology, event technology, projection, or a related field
- Strong computer and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with projection equipment, screens, media servers, and multiple-display configurations
- Strong familiarity with Windows operating systems
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems under pressure
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and dependable
- Comfortable working directly with clients
- Physically able to transport and set up audiovisual equipment
- Willingness and ability to travel for projects
The Details
This is a freelance / independent contractor position paid on a project-by-project basis. Projects may take place in various locations throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Travel expenses: airfare, hotel, rental car/mileage, meals reimbursed separately
Travel time: a predetermined travel-day fee
We are looking for someone who can become a trusted member of our technology team and be available for future IDG projects as opportunities arise.
Pay: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 25.0 per week
