Job Summary
The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to clients in accordance with Rhode Island home care regulations. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing nursing services, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring full compliance with Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) regulations for home care providers and accreditation agencies such as Community Health Accreditation Partners (CHAP). The Director of Nursing will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and is responsible for managing nursing staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring that all practices and protocols align with state regulatory requirements, including licensure, documentation, client assessment, and quality assurance.

- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Current RN license in the state of Rhode Island required
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience in home care, assisted living, or a related setting.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare/homecare regulations and compliance standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
- Proven leadership and management abilities
Knowledge:
Healthcare Management - Knowledge of principles and methods for managing healthcare services, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques.
Nursing Practices - Understanding of nursing principles, practices, and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
Regulatory Compliance - Thorough knowledge of Rhode Island-specific home care regulations and standards, including RIDOH Home Care Provider Licensing Rules, as well as federal regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA, and accreditation through Community Health Accreditation Partners (CHAP). This includes understanding requirements for staff licensure, client rights, documentation, infection control, incident reporting, and quality improvement.
Patient Care - Knowledge of patient care techniques and methods to ensure the delivery of compassionate and effective care.
Skills:
Leadership Skills - Ability to lead and manage a team of nursing professionals effectively.
Communication Skills - Strong ability to communicate with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Role Relationships - Collaboration with other healthcare departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Responsibility for Others - High level of responsibility for the performance and development of nursing staff.
Work Setting - Primarily in an office environment, with occasional travel for intake assessments and 90 days assessments (SUP visits).
Primary Job Duties:
Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Rhode Island Department of Health regulations for home care agencies, including requirements for patient assessments, individualized care plans, clinical supervision, staff orientation and in-service education, infection control, and incident reporting.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and services.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing services in accordance with Rhode Island quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) requirements, implementing improvements as needed and maintaining documentation as required by state regulation.
Represent the nursing department in meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Rhode Island (active & in good standing).
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience in home care, assisted living, or a related setting.
- Strong knowledge of Rhode Island home care regulations, CHAP accreditation standards, and Medicaid policies.
- Experience with caregiver training, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to develop client care plans and assess non-skilled home care needs.
- Strong communication skills with caregivers, administrators, and clients.
- Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
