Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist / Trainer
Location: Oak Creek, WI (Onsite/Hybrid)
Salary: Up to $26.52/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
About the Role
Join a growing food manufacturing operation where safety, compliance, and employee well-being are top priorities. As an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist / Trainer, you will play a vital role in developing a strong safety culture by delivering employee training, supporting OSHA compliance, conducting audits, and promoting safe work practices throughout the facility. This position is ideal for a safety professional who enjoys working closely with employees, supervisors, and operations teams to create a safer workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing employee safety training
- Administer and maintain OSHA-required safety programs and documentation
- Perform safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments throughout the facility
- Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and support GEMBA audits
- Maintain electronic and physical training records for compliance and audit readiness
- Support emergency response activities and first aid programs
- Assist with Return-to-Work and light-duty initiatives
- Partner with operations teams to identify and reduce workplace hazards
- Translate safety trainings, communications, and documents between English and Spanish
- Promote continuous improvement of safety programs and workplace safety culture
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Minimum 2 years of safety-related experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs
- Experience conducting employee training sessions and safety presentations
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and interact with employees at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Studies, or Occupational Health & Safety
- 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with LOTO, PPE, Hazard Communication, Confined Space, and Emergency Action Plans
- Experience conducting safety audits and investigations
- ASP, GSP, or CRSP certification preferred
- Food manufacturing experience is a plus
Work Environment
This position supports a food manufacturing facility and includes both office and production floor responsibilities. Candidates should be comfortable working in manufacturing environments, conducting floor audits, engaging with employees, and supporting safety initiatives throughout the plant.
