Job: Special Education Teacher/Full Time

We are seeking energetic and passionate teaching professionals to provide specialized instruction within a small classroom setting for students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or Developmental Delay.
Responsibilities
- Create a warm, happy, safe, child-centered environment
- Recognize each student’s individual needs
- Create and coordinate individual student schedules
- Develop instructional plans that can adapt to instructional levels and needs of a small student group with in-house curriculum provided using programs such as: ABLES, STAR, or BASICS
- Collaborate with parents, administrators, therapists and other professionals to develop individualized education plans
- Collaborate with other teachers and professionals in planning, developing and implementing appropriate curriculum and lessons to create a team approach including both occupational and physical therapies in the classroom
- Understanding of the student’s limitations of physical ability, cognitive development and emotional needs and able to develop and implement appropriate curriculum and lessons
- Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition and memory
- Utilize phonetics, multi-sensory learning and repetition to reinforce learning and meet students' varying needs
- Present information using audio-visual and interactive formats using computers, televisions and audio-visual aids
- Ability to implement a varied applied behavior and sensory immersion program with varied art, music, physical and adapted play techniques
- Conduct group activities to stimulate interpersonal relationships and social/emotional skills
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages social interaction while meeting each child's individual needs
- Reinforce positive behavior and recognize, analyze and redirect inappropriate behavior
- Communicate any student concerns with parents
- Ability to establish and maintain professional interpersonal communication and effective working relationships with staff, parents, therapists, and the community
- Ensure the classroom is maintained in a clean and organized fashion on a daily basis
- Participate in all necessary training, weekly staff meetings, annual parent meetings, school functions, and community activities
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, special education, or related field
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum preferred
- Experience working with a team of professionals to coordinate services for the student
- Background check and fingerprinting will be required
- CPR Certified or willing to complete CPR training
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
