Duties
- Assist with menu planning to ensure balanced, appealing meals that meet dietary guidelines and client preferences
- Prepare and cook food items using proper techniques, including knife skills and food handling best practices
- Support the dietary department in meal assembly, portioning, and presentation to enhance overall dining experience
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in all food preparation and serving activities
- Help with catering events by preparing large quantities of food and ensuring timely delivery
- Serve meals to residents or customers with professionalism and courtesy while adhering to food service protocols
- Keep kitchen and dining areas clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations at all times
Experience
- Previous dietary aide or dietary department experience preferred, demonstrating familiarity with meal prep and food handling procedures
- Experience working in a restaurant or food industry setting that involves cooking, serving, or kitchen operations
- Strong culinary skills including knife proficiency, cooking techniques, and meal preparation expertise
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in sanitation and hygiene
- Background in catering or large-scale food service environments is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and assist residents or customers
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining a positive attitude
