Summary
Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by maintaining critical refrigeration systems that support production performance. As a Refrigeration Technician, you will play a critical role in the operation, installation, repair, and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment while adhering to Process Safety Management standards, responding to work orders, and troubleshooting issues to keep equipment running at peak performance. Working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, you will partner closely with maintenance and operations teams to drive safety, efficiency, and reliability across the facility while stepping into leadership responsibilities as needed to support team continuity. This role is ideal for a technically skilled, safety focused professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in maintaining critical systems that keep operations running at their best.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00pm-6:30am
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems.
- Perform line opening procedures.
- Receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on Ammonia compressors, air compressors, ammonia liquid pumps, ammonia system controls, refrigeration system condensers, air system drying equipment and air system controls.
- Direct and train operators.
- Working knowledge of department computers.
- Perform tasks as assigned by management.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent and completed training in a technical school for Refrigeration.
- 3 + years of experience in Industrial Refrigeration.
- Must have a clear understanding of refrigerant expansion with pressure temperature variables.
- Must have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing and innovation.
- Must have good client/customer service skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
- Must be available to work overtime (including weekends) to perform preventative maintenance tasks during downtime.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Must be able to stand for several hours.
- Ability to work in wet and extreme cold and hot conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 99 pounds without mechanical assistance.
- Ability to withstand exposure to all physical and chemical elements of the processing environment.
